I remember our journalism professor, Jose Pavia, talk about why the upcoming election on May 10 is one of the most important events in Philippine history. The country, as much as the rest of the world, is clamoring for “change”. The United States claimed their stake in this social revolution with Barack Obama’s win back in 2008.
And now it’s our turn. But that change we are seeking is nothing more than an empty idealism if the change does not start with us. Exercising intelligent voting–one that is focused on issues and the ability of the candidate to resolve these– is one way we can effectuate this change.
We are casting our votes in less than two weeks, but do we really know our candidates? Do we know our precincts? Do we know the electoral and voting processes? Gabay Halalan is here to give you the answers.
